2022 Contest Entries
The Ontonagon Artist Collective is bringing back the Gingerbread House contest. Contestants can choose any medium of Gingerbread House, see entry form for details. Houses can be made from scratch or a kit. Contestants are encouraged to use their imagination to come up with a House that’s unique and creative. Home bakers, as well as professional bakers, are encouraged to get their families, and especially kids, involved in crafting a creation that just might end up being a gift or centerpiece for a holiday table.
The Houses will be displayed at a special reception at the Ontonagon Theatre for the December 2nd Holiday Christmas Concert. The Houses will then move to Olde Swing Bridge Coffee Roasters for further viewing and People’s Choice voting throughout the Hometown Christmas weekend.

All houses must be completed prior to drop off, no construction onsite. OAC will contact contestants in advance to schedule a time to drop off their house.
All entries will be judged on Originality|Creativity and Overall appearance; Unique use of materials, difficulty of design and construction. See entry form on website for details.
We anticipate having more general competitor entries than professional competitors and will be asking all general competitors to submit their entry form in advance for our team of judges to select for inclusion in the Gingerbread House Gallery at Olde Swing Bridge Coffee Roasters where the public will be invited to vote on their final favorites People’s choice on Dec. 3 & 4th.

The Collective is designed to provide opportunities for artists, makers, and creators to showcase their talents. By providing facilities and resources to the local artists, the Collective’s goal is to grow public engagement, create synergy between businesses and strengthen community. Public participation is the “skin in the game” for this organization. OAC believes that through collective consciousness everyone benefits. We’re stronger together.
This fun and exciting event will be sponsored by the Ontonagon Artist Collective and the Houses will be displayed at the Ontonagon Theatre at a special reception for the Holiday Christmas Concert on December 2 and then moved to a location in the village for further viewing over the Hometown Christmas weekend.

All entries must be in completed form.
Drop off times will be scheduled in advance, OAC will contact contestants to schedule.

Houses must fit on a 18x18 inch space, some boards will be available on a first come first serve basis.
No perishable items can be used, all entries will be judged on Originality/Creativity, Overall appearance, use of materials, difficulty of design and precision.
Any material for the house can be used- Gingerbread, Graham crackers, cardboard, wood, etc. Contestants are encouraged to use their imagination to come up with a structure that's unique and creative.
The OAC reserves the right not to display an entry if the entry is not considered show quality.
Before the entries are put on display, a panel of judges will award ribbons and prizes in each of the divisions with a First, Second, Third and Peoples Choice Award.
$5.00 Entry per Gingerbread House, Houses can be made from Scratch or a kit.
